Getting the most from your candle

Ok, after spendin far too long making decisions, you've finally landed on the candle of your dreams. It's been delivered and now you're not sure if you should light it. You don't want to ever say goodbye- It's your perfect candle!

Never fear. Burn the candle. Do it, enjoy life and buy another one when you're ready. Thre will always be another scented pot of lovelyness waiting for you!

Here are my tips to get the most out of your candle:

  • If it suits, it's best to let your candle run for 3-4 hours (Maybe 3 hours if you're in the middle of summer, to 4 hours if it's quite a cool ambient temperature where you are). Your candle has been designed to reach a full "melt pool" in this time. As your candle burns lower, you'll notice it reaches a full melt pool in less time, as the heat remains in the candle glass for longer.
  • If you burn for less time initially, you may notice wax is left on the walls of the glass. It's not a big deal, it's just not as "pretty" but you do you! Sometimes the candle "catches up", and the residual wax melts down into the candle and the world keeps spinning ;-)
  • Always burn your candle on a heat resistant surface.
    - If its a moulded / Pillar candle, please ensure it can catch drips.
    - If it's a glass candle, please ensure its heat resistant.
  • For candles poured in a glass tumbler, ensure to extinguish when there is only 1cm of wax left.
    - This reduces your chance of over heating the glass and
    - reduces the chance of your glass cracking / "exploding" due to extreme temperature change.
    - Further note on the above: Just like how you should never pour hot water on your windscreen to melt away frost, you should never let your candle burn down, and self extinguish. The temperature change between the overheated candle glass and your cool benchtop can be too much and cause the glass to crack or "explode". This is why you should stop burning once there is about 1.5-1cm of wax still in the glass. Call it a day. On to the next!
  • Never leave your candle unattended.
  • You cat will find the flame intruiging. Again, I would like to remind you to never leave your candle unattended.
  • You child will find the flame intruiging. Again, I would like to remind you to never leave your candle unattended.
  • Keep your candle away from breezes and fabrics such as curtains.

HOT TIPS

  • You've burnt your candle, your house smells AMAZING.
     - DO NOT blow your candle out like it's your birthday, girl.
     - DO use a skewer to swiftly knock the wick into the melt pool and whip it back out again.
     - Now your home is not full of stinky acrid smoke! The melt pool of your candle can continue to bring out that gorgeous scent.
